How to create a checklist for equipment
Find out how to create a simple and efficient cleaning checklist for your equipment.
Food businesses must maintain their equipment in a clean and sanitary condition in order to comply with the food safety regulations. A cleaning schedule is an easy and effective way of demonstrating all equipment is regularly cleaned. Cleaning schedules can help you and your employees know what needs to be cleaned and how often it should be cleaned.
Recommended cleaning frequencies:
After each use:
- all utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans
- equipment such as meat slicer, mixers, chopping boards
- sinks, food preparation areas
At least daily:
- equipment such as microwave, coffee machines, stovetops, Bain Marie
- refrigerator rubber door seals
- Weekly:
- floors/walls beneath and behind all appliances
- shelving, cupboards
- flyscreens
- fridges and freezers, dry storage areas
- rubbish bins
Monthly:
- light fittings, fans
- exhaust canopies
- pest control bait boxes
How to create a checklist for equipment?
- Log into your FoodDocs account
- Go to the Setup
- Click on Monitoring tasks
- Click on ADD TASK
- The monitoring task creation page will come up on the right side of the screen
- Give a name to your cleaning checklist (for example - Cleaning checklist: Equipment)
- Select Equipment under Related to
- Select the Checklist option (Form/Checklist)
- Select equipment from the list (selected equipment will be assigned to this checklist)
- Tick on/off Same tasks for all:
- Tick on Same tasks for all means the same tasks for all selected equipment
- Tick off Same tasks for all means different tasks for selected equipment
- Input the task description in the field Add task
- Select Task frequency in the drop-down list (see how to set up task frequencies HERE)
- Select the team who is responsible in the drop-down list under the Monitored by (see how to assign roles to your team members HERE)
- Click on ADD TASK to add another task (you can create as many tasks as you need)
- Click on PREVIEW to see how it looks on the app
- Once all tasks are added, click on SAVE
You can always come back to your checklist and apply any changes or add more tasks.
